A New South Dakota State Record Walleye
A South Dakota state record walleye was caught by Aaron Schuck, a 43-year-old angler from Bismarck. The walleye weighed 16 pounds and 8 ounces and was caught on Lake Oahe south of Mobridge. Schuck used a Walleye Nations reaper crankbait to catch the record-breaking fish. He took it to Oahe Sunset Lodge to have it weighed, and a South Dakota Game and Fish biologist also confirmed the weight. Previously, the state record was held by Georgine Chytka, who caught a 16-pound, 2-ounce walleye in November 2002. Schuck expressed his surprise and joy at achieving his long-time dream of catching a record-breaking walleye.
